On the Bright Side

When life gets you down, it can be very easy to sink into a deep well of sadness. This past week has been very stressful for me, and the coming week will be too. It helps to look on the bright side of things, although this can be difficult. To keep myself optimistic, I have come up with a list of things that brighten my day, or anyone’s day in general. Sometimes, it’s the little things that matter most. Here are just a few of the little things that make life a bit brighter:

-Food
-Popping bubble wrap
-Slidding across wood floors in your socks
-Ordinary acts of kindness
-Your favorite song playing on the radio
-Unexpected compliments
-Fuzzy slippers
-Fluffy hats
-Glittery stuff
-The smell of spring air just before a rain
-Ribbons
-New books
-Old books
-Fabric scraps
-Fancy paper
-Art supplies
-Candy
-A day off
-Witty remarks
-New erasers
-Good authors
-Sugar cubes
-A gift
-A hug from someone you love
-An idea for a new novel
-The people who matter most
-Movie night
-Finding something lost
-Little surprises
-A helping hand
-Catching raindrops with your tongue
-Splashing in puddles
-Singing in the rain
-Dancing
-Stargazing
-Campfires
-Silly dreams
-The sun sparkling on water
-Moonlight
-The smell of cookies baking

That’s all I could think of off the top of my head. Some of them apply to me, and some to people in general. There are so many things we take for granted, especially the little things. I take these and many other things for granted. I take it for granted that these things will always be here to brighten my day. Probably I always will. But for now, I’m glad for these things. I will treasure them while I can. I hope you will do the same for the little things that matter in your life.
